Dear Cathy,

Thank you very much for your hospitality. It was a wonderful event and weat China Airlines are happy and proud to support NTCCTCC. You did a greatjob with our ad in your program book as well. Since you asked for suggestions, I just have a couple:

1. For safety, I would recommend that the hotel put up some low lyingplants or something where the lights are set up around the dance floor sothat people won't trip over the lights as they did this year.

2. I would also recommend to go ahead with all of the drawings at one timeand not intersperse with dancing. Those who want to stay and dance can doso, and those who want to leave after the final drawing can also do so. I look forward to attending next year.

Happy Year of the Rat!

Best regards,

Mike

Hi, Cathy

Congratulation on this successful event! Everyone's hard work and your great coordination are finally paid off. Our managing Director enjoyed this party a lot, he said the program are better than last year and he may sponsor two tables next year!

Your ladies' hot dance were quite impressive, the little kids' dancing also amazing. The gift prizehanded out were lots easier than last year, althoughwe had some empty gift envelope which we can improve next year. Some sponsors are confused with the table No. on ticket and the real table #, may be we can come out abetter way next year.

For the ruffle ticket drawing,we should mix-up the tickets real well each timebefore draw a new prize.

Thanks.

Peggy

Dear Cathy:

It was so much fun being an audience as well as a performer. The program was such a feast and the performers were outstanding. The only complain I had was the time flew by really fast on Sunday. Thank you very much for preparing this wonderful event for us as the audiences. I will be glad to be part of the NTCCTCC Lunar New Year Celebration Event next year. Thanks again.

An Early Christmas

Profile

An Early Christmas
By Wendy Yeh

Christmas customs around the world reflect the variety of cultures that celebrate the holiday. At the root of Christianity, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus. However, the modern-day celebration of Christmas also combines many non-religious customs. This complex layering of sacred and secular observances has created many different ways of celebration that vary from nation to nation and from culture to culture.

The North Texas Collin County Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (NTCCTCC) celebrated an early Christmas on Sunday, December 2, at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson. Symbols used during the party were bright and colorful. We saw gold and silver wrappings and huge red and green bows mounted on the walls of the hotel lobby. There was a giant snowman on stage as a wonderful prop.

From the grandeur of the decorations and sumptuous food to the talented performances of the past local karaoke winners and a live band, all contributed to the success of this festive party. The master of ceremony at the party was Beverly Lu. She introduced all of the scheduled entertainment programs. Several pairs of international ballroom dancers showed the audience the complicated steps of waltz, cha cha, and other dances. The audience also joined in the fun of dancing after dinner to work off some of the calories. President David Hsu jumped on stage to sing an energetic rendition of the popular Feliz Navidad with his special set of dance moves. The audience responded to all of the entertainers with hearty applause and warm cheers.

Elected in June of this year, President David Hsu knows that the most valued resource of any organization is its members. He remarked, “The prospect of an end-of-year bash can be a remarkable boost for the morale of the organization and the community. Not only is this an occasion for sharing a good time with members and friends, it is also an excellent opportunity to motivate members to work together.”

As an MBA from the University of Dallas, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Feng-Chia University in Taiwan, Hsu is the owner of Jis Engine, L.P. In order to reach the goals for NTCCTCC, Hsu emphasized, “I delegate various responsibilities to talented members within our organization and fully authorize their decisions.” He added, “Unity is everything. Individual abilities have to be united in order to be powerful. This is true to solving personal inner conflicts and to obtain family harmony, too.” Hsu and his wife have a daughter. She is a sophomore at the prestigious Pratt Art Institute in New York.

Although president Hsu was not feeling well for the past few days, he still put forth his strength to make sure all of the attendees enjoyed the Christmas party. Addison Mayor Joe Chow and his wife also participated in the celebration.

The NTCCTCC was founded in 1995. Currently it has over one hundred members from the North Texas community of Taiwanese businesses. It has been enthusiastic in many charitable activities, including assisting the elderly and the homeless people in this region.

Under the leadership of President David Hsu, many members and volunteers generously donated their time, energy, and money to make every activity that the NTCCTCC was involved with a success. Most of them make precious sacrifices of time to help out the organization after work to better the community.

After the party, people were still immersed in the fun of this early Christmas celebration. Many concluded, “This is so much fun” as they walked out of the hotel doors. #

2008 Lunar New Year Celebration

NTCCTCC 2008 Lunar New Year Celebration

Year of the Rat

Dear Community Leaders,

On behalf of the Members and Board of Directors of the NTCCTCC, we would like to invite you to help us celebrate the Lunar New Year 4706, also known as the Year of the Rat, on Sat. Feb. 2, 2008 at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson, TX. Reception will begin at 6 PM, with dinner to follow at 7 PM.

The Lunar New Year is one of the most important and traditional celebrations to the Chinese people all over the world. Like most New Year, it symbolizes the passing of time, a phase ¡V most noticeable of course is the change of season - from winter to spring. However, it also is a time of change, from old to new. Progress and innovation comes to mind as we talk about change and that is what we have done this year with our association.

When people talk about the New Year, they also refer to it as the Spring Festival. Spring also symbolizes opportunity and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you into our family to help us celebrate this happy occasion as the New Year is also one that is usually celebrated with family and close friends. Our theme this year has been CHANGE and we want to celebrate this change, this progress, this new direction with you our extended family!

This year, as in the past twelve years since we have celebrated together as the NTCCTCC, our membership has grown by leaps and bounds. In particular, we have drawn a younger generation from our community to participate in the organization. We believe that in order for us to grow and prosper in these exciting times, we need new ideas and a fresh perspective. It is a goal that we set out to develop over the years but finally seeing the fruits of our labor. That in itself is a big change and a major accomplishment for the organization.

Along with our traditional cultural programs, we have also introduced some new business opportunities for our members. It is because of the contributions of our Board of Directors and our generous members that we are able to continue to reinvest in the community that we live and work in on a daily basis. However, our capability is also limited by our size and it is because of this that we rely heavily on strategic partners like you to help us support the many programs we produce. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of our organization and to help us celebrate our accomplishments over this past year.

We hope that you will join us as we welcome the New Year - a year full of high hopes and anticipation. Those born in the Year of the Rat are known to be very goal oriented and accomplish much. With that trait, we hope to set some very large goals for the association and with your help w

e will accomplish them with great success. Looking forward to celebrating with you!

Sincerely,

David Hsu

President
